Ridge, NY (Long Island) - Brush Fire & FF w/Burns - 4/9/12

Time: 2:30pm- Ongoing

Location: Pine Barnes in Ridge, NY near the Brookhaven National Labs

Units Operating: Every dept from Suffolk County and some depts from Nassau responding

Description Of Incident: Large multiple brush fires. Suffolk County Signal 1 (Disaster) activated. Every dept in Suffolk requested to send all available manpower, brush trucks, and tankers. Smoke can be seen from as far as Westbury, NY and across the sound in CT. Unknown injuries ATT. Manorville VFD has lost 2 brush trucks to the fire.

U/D: One FF injured. Burns to the face and hands, w/ smoke inhalation too. Medivac being set up to get him out. Fire has extended from the Pine Barens to multiple homes. Reports are saying that this fire will be harder to control than the brush fire in 1995 in the same location aka "The Sunrise Wildfire" http://en.wikipedia....se_Fire_of_1995. The 1995 fire took out 7000 acres.
