New FDNY Rear Mounts @ Ferrara In New Jersey

20 posts in this topic

Dropped off one of our engines at Ferrara in NJ this past Monday and took some pictures of the rear mounts that are getting their final touches. Beautiful trucks and extremely well planed and thought out.

Was also in the city yesterday and got some shots of one of the new rear mounts that is in service, while parked at Rockefeller Center.

Nice pics. Should someone inform the shop that the URL on the side of the truck is wrong? (I know it's nitpicky, not even sure how I noticed it.)

All nice rigs! I hope the FDNY can say the same about them, and I hope the companies they are going to will be pleased with them.

By the way, the supply truck lettered CPC L-10 is the Chemical Protective Clothing Unit for Ladder 10. Ladder 10 is a Chemical Protective Clothing Ladder Company, meaning that it responds to Haz-Mat./Decon. Incidents with the supply truck, which carries Level "A" and Level "B" chemical haz-mat. suits and decon. equipment. There are 23 CPC Ladder Companies in the city, as well as 4 Rescue Companies with capabilities, minus the supply truck and extra equipment. The link posted by INIT915 pretty much explains the rest.

And, NurseMedic, the URL on the rigs does work. I do recall that it didn't for a while. I believe the correct link at that time was www.nyc.gov/fire, but I'm not sure.

Just out of curiosity, what happened to Rescue 1's old piece, the 2006 Pierce?

The URL in pic #8 does not work. The correct address is nyc.gov[forward-slash]fdny, not nyc.gov[dot]fdny.

It's now in the reserve pool.

Can someone please tell me the reason for the single blue light on the rear of the new rigs. Thanks.

Why the switch from Seagrave to Ferrara

Ferrara was the lowest acceptable bidder.

Can someone please tell me the reason for the single blue light on the rear of the new rigs. Thanks.

NYS now allows for rear facing blue lights. They wanted more visibility, but thought rear facing spotlights were tacky. These lights ensure driver distraction, make following difficult in poor lighting conditions and look great too.

"nyc.gov.fdny" does not work. It is being corrected at the shops and I thought was supposed to have been corrected on any other trucks before delivery. I guess not.

Good eye. I see it now. Didn't catch it before.

I think you passed me on the way there, I was wondering where the Engine was going. I was in my patrol car sitting on the shoulder of the highway in NJ, I think you had a department utility truck with you too. Nice pics.

I remember passing you. That was our soon to be gone utility. Stay safe.
