FDNY Ferrarra Ladder 4

11 posts in this topic

With yesterday's warm weather I took my son to the Intrepid. To our surprise FDNY Ladder 4, Engines 84 and 28 with the E84 Purple K unit were there. The Coast Guard were going to land one of the helicopters on the deck of the Intrepid.

First up Ladder 4 with their new 2011 Ferrarra Ladder , FDNY ID # FL11010

The Coast Guard arrived ahead of schedule so we missed the landing, however we did get to watch their departure. FDNY had standpipe packs and a Hurst tool on deck if needed. In the earlier photos if you look closely you can see them loading everything on to carts which they brought up to deck. Here they held a preflight briefing with everyone.

Great shots Grumpy, thanks for sharing them with us! Looks like you had a great day with your son.

Is it me, or are the Ferrarra cabs a bit bigger than the Seagraves? In the pics of L4, between the door to the crew cab and rear body, there seems to be extra space where that small window is.

Unfortunately I did not get any of the company patches, of the bronze plaque on Ladder 4 for their 9/11 members
