SOMERS did it again!!!!!!!!!!!

Westchester County's 1st Curtis-Wright Power Hawk Rescue Tool was delivered (played with) and accepted by Chief Byrnes and the Officers of the Somers VFD, last night at Fire Headquarters.

After some training sessions with the membership over the next few weeks, the tool "may" temporarily be placed in service on Utility 5. But not for long- it will be going to Res1cuE for mounting in the front bumper of the new Rescue 20, by the end of May.

That would be the county's second Power Hawk tool. The first one went into service July 2004 on Rescue #88 in the City of White Plains.

When I first heard of this tool, I was extremly skeptical of an elcetric powered extrication tool.

But after seeing and getting to experience the Powerhawk, it has some really neat and unique features that, in some situations, give it an advantage over the tradtional hydraulic systems.

It'll be interesting to see this tool do it's first couple of jobs.

No need to apoligize res20cue you also realized the benefits of this tool. We did not buy it so much for auto extrications, although it is up for the work, but more for bldg. collapse, confined space work, construction accidents, etc. Did you buy the whole package, rams, plates, etc.
