It is with deep regret,that the Port Chester Fire Department announces the passing of Walter "Huck" Nickerson Jr. a Past Captain and 52 Year member of the Putnam Engine & Hose Co #2 (Engine 63).

Huck was widely known for his heroic rescue of a trapped child from a smoke / flame filled apartment on Purdy Ave. and was also previously recognized as Firefighter of The Year from the Westchester County Volunteer Firefighters Assoc.

He will be missed by many our condolences and deepest sympathies go out to his family.

Department wake services will be held on Tuesday December 6,19:00hrs Castiglione Funeral home 134 Hamilton Ave. Greenwich CT.

Funeral to be held Wednesday 12/7,10:00hrs St.Mary's Church 178 Greenwich Ave. Greenwich,CT.

All members are asked to assemble in full uniform.
