Glendale AZ Fire Department Fire Prevention Parade

12 posts in this topic

Last weekend I did the 5 hour drive to the Phoenix suburb of Glendale for their Fire Prevention Week Parade. This was their 29th annual, and seemed a little smaller than in past years. I still got some good shots, which I'll share here. I got there a little late, so I didn't get my normal shots of the rigs as they lined up prior. Enjoy!!

Photo #4-Glendale FD Ladder Tender 155-Crimson-This is used like a ladder service rig. Used on medical aids and other type calls rather than the ladder/truck going out to save wear and tear on the truck.

more rigs from the parade....with the crowd I really didn't have time to get rig info. Besides, JBE can attest I am notoriously bad about getting rig info...

departments out here generally don't do a whole lot with lights and other extras, but found an engine from El Mirage with a rotor ray...

Duane, nice job on the photos!

You know, I don't think those E-One Quest will ever grow on me.

AWESOME shots, Duane!!!

Seeing the Quest in action, it looks pretty good! (Pete is preferential to the Quantum where we are infested with them)

I never knew Glendale had a "Main St" like that.

It's funny all the departments out there with different thinking for specs. Especially Phoenix, which went right back nowadays to a pretty traditional Quantum pumper.

Thanks Pete and Seth for the comments...

As for Phoenix Valley Apparatus, it seems like the east side, with the exception of Tempe and Scottsdale (both have ALFs) everyone is running Quantums. West side it's basically take your pick, each department is pretty different (Glendale E-One, Goodyear Pierce but not Quantum etc). Thats why I like the parade. One year I was there and got photos of a rig from every department in the valley.
