STONY POINT — A 62-year-old woman remained in critical condition today with severe burns after firefighters pulled her from her smoldering River Road apartment, where she may have been cooking on a gas stove, authorities said.

Stony Point volunteer firefighters found Mary Minella unconscious and burned across about 40 percent of her body after they broke into the second-floor apartment she rented at 30 River Road just before 11:30 p.m. Monday, authorities said.
