Proactively Merging Fire Departments

Interesting piece in today's paper. I'm always impressed by the progressive nature of most of the departments and their officers and firefighters, and willingness to try new things.

I know jobs are one of the primary issues for the merger, but they are at least facing reality and the concept of the future.

Lake Travis firefighters in talks to merge with Austin Fire Department

With their area facing possible annexation into Austin in a few years, union officials from Lake Travis Fire Rescue are in preliminary talks to merge their department with the Austin Fire Department sooner rather than later.

mergerging departments is i think going to be the new concept in the future in both vollunteer and career dept.

Yes, but most people lose out on the benefits by fighting it in the Hudson Valley.

And, of the departments in the article, none of these departments are volunteer.
