That was my thought too. This article sounds identical to the articles on the FDNY boats. Since then I haven't heard a peep and regularly see '343' and 'The Bravest' out on the river.

I guess like any other rig/bus, after the first few months, there is a short-list of things that need to be tweeked. Boston Herald did the article, never said they were great at it.

The Herald would rather the boat stayed in the water until marine growth clogged the jets and stripped all the anti-fowling paint off exposing the aluminum hull. And as far as the other items, I wonder if that is why auto-makers sell or give warranties? Maybe cars and boats don't come from the factory perfect. Every anti-BFD article in the last month has been a non issue. Do a story on how bad the spare apparatus fleet is and we'll call that reporting. But no, that would make city hall look bad!
