I know this is far from the tristate but it sounds like a cool job. Not many people can say they work at one of the most dangerous airports in the world. Eagle County Regional Airportwas rated number 8 on the most dangerous airports, according to The History Channel.

Aircraft Rescue Firefighters / Airport Operations

SALARY:

Hourly

$20.00 - $20.00

DESCRIPTION:

Responds as part of a team to airport emergencies to provide fire and rescue services. Performs snow removal, inspections, maintenance, repair and equipment operations necessary in operating and maintaining airport property and facilities. Works rotational shifts that will include some holidays and weekends.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

1. Prepares for emergency situations that may occur in association with airport operations. Responds to accidents and incidents that require fire/rescue services on airport property.

2. Performs work related to firefighting and rescue operations, including, but not limited to; fire truck operation, hose, nozzle, apparatus handling, application of extinguishing agents, performance of advanced first aid, rescue or evacuation, scene integrity and security. Inspect firefighting and rescue equipment daily to assure readiness and good repair.

3. Attends training and assists with training on airport operations, safety, security, first aid/CPR, hazardous materials, and other related subjects.

4. Conducts Part 139 and Part 1542 daily inspections of the airport, document and/or repair discrepancies.

5. Snow Removal is an emergency condition, subject to mandatory emergency recall. Must be reachable by phone or text, 24/7 from October 15 to May 1. Position will require snow removal on runway, taxiway, apron areas and all other hard surfaces.

6. Airfield Maintenance: Performs a variety of routine heavy equipment, manual labor and general work activities related to repair and maintenance of the facility and equipment, including but not limited to sweeping, mowing, parking lot cleaning, oil/filter changes etc. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must successfully pass a 10 year background criminal history records check in accordance with FAR, Part 1542 and maintain eligibility for FAA and TSA-mandated security clearance requirements.

High school graduate and one year of firefighting experience or any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Valid State Driver's License and a satisfactory motor vehicle record.

Must have or be able to obtain the following from prescribed time of employment;

ARFF 40-hour Basic Training and FAA CFR 139 Live-Fire training within 45 days

NIMS ICS-100 and NIMS ICS-200 within 45 days

Colorado CDL within 90

EMT-Basic within 1 year

Firefighter I within 18 months

Hazmat Operations within 2 years

Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy materials, supplies, and equipment (25-50lbs.) frequently, and heavy materials, supplies, and equipment (50-100lbs.) occasionally. Work requires extended periods of walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.
