Putnam County Sheriff road patrol Threatened by Budget

I saw this article on Lohud.com discussing what may happen if Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature get a tax cap approved, without relief from unfunded state mandates. Would the state police be able to handle the additional work load if this happened?

Every time thee is a budget crunch dropping the Road Patrol gets mentioned by the County Executive. Every year it remains. There is a lot of fat in county government that could be cut before essential services.

When are the politican going to understand that cutting essential emegency services is not the answer to their budgets.I can think of other non essential things to cut that would trim their budgets of wasted money.
