The professional teamwork by YPD ESU, YFD RES1, SQ11, TL75, B2, Empress EMS and NYSP freed seriously injured victim whose arm was caught between steering wheel and tree. Vehicle was hanging around tree and had to be stabilized before any extrication could be performed. Members were concerned that any removal or re-alignment of vehicle would cause it to fall back down embankment.

They should rename the Sprain. It should be the Westchester Autobahn.

Great job again by Yonkers!

Strong work to all the peeps in Yonkers!

Thanks for the pics, always nice to give us a different perspective on a situation not often encountered. This kind of setup would be an EXCELLENT extrication drill!!

I drove by this yesterday as R1 got on scene. Any idea how this happened? They must have been flying to get that high up into the trees!

Looks like great work. Whats the collar around the base of the 4x4? Is that something guys made in house as an anchor point for the strapping?

Excellent photos and info Chief, thank you for sharing. Its been said already, but definately awesome work by all FD, PD and EMS involved.

Chris, i like your Autobahn comment, scary but true!

I would assume speed played a big factor in this incident.

Those collars were fabricated by a YFD member.

Another victim of the Sprain 500. The daily sprint down or up to 287 and beyond. This one may be the highest yet. Once saw a vette up in the limbs southbound at about the same spot. Good job by all!
Those collars were fabricated by a YFD member.

Fabricated by Firefighter Dave Maxwell, former senior man of TL-71, great truckman, talented fabricator, Vietnam combat veteran, who is now deceased.

Unfortunately, he did not live to enjoy the long retirement which he deserved.

Absolutely. As mentioned in the original post, the agencies involved all contributed to a succesful outcome!
Nice job done by the Yonkers FD, PD and EMS. I consider Yonkers, "New York City's Sixth Boro".
