Ossining FD No 2333?

Just a quick question for all you ossining guys here, why is there a car 2331, 2332 and 2334 but no 2333? Peeked my interest after visiting lfd171's site. Thanks for your time, steve.

good question. Car 2334 is quite often mixed up as 2333. I've even seen it on this site. I'm not a fireman, just a photographer/enthusiast but have a bunch of friends inside OFD. I'll ask em and if nobody gets back to you on this I'll respond back.

From a friend inside of OFD, "I've heard it would be too confusing to have 3 3's. So they skipped the 3 and went to the 4 so you can tell the difference." He's not 100% certain on this but that's what he's heard and he's been in the fd for a few years. Makes sense to me but then again I'm no expert either.

This would make allot of sense, as half the time I think I am hearing " TWO TREE TREE TWO "

It makes sense. There is a dept in our county whose designation is "11" and the chief radio sign is "11, 12,13, an14"...so when the chief calls on air its "911, this is 1111 enroute to scene"...talk about confusing.

Elmsford FD has the same situation the chiefs number is 2111. When he calls in he calls it as twenty one eleven seems to work out fine to me.
