Two Buchanan County (Va.) Sheriff's deputies were fatally shot in southwest Virginia while responding to a robbery at an auto salvage shop, reports the Bluefield Daily Telegraph.

Deputies William Ezra Stiltner, 46, and Cameron Neil Justice, 41, were apparently shot at long range at about 2 p.m. Sunday while responding as backup officers. The two deputies who initially reponded were also shot and are now recovering. One is on a respirator.

Deputies then tracked Randy Gilbert Newberry, 52, to a residence in the woods near Vansant, Va. Newberry was shot and killed.
