EMS Service Adapts Ambulances To Growing Needs:Switches From Ford To Chevy

Very interesting article about MedStar, which provides EMS for Fort Worth,TX and other municpalities in the Tarrant County area.

As patients get larger, MedStar ambulances also grow in size

The Area Metropolitan Ambulance Authority, known as MedStar, is the exclusive emergency and nonemergency ambulance service provider to 15 Tarrant County cities: Blue Mound, Burleson, Edgecliff Village, Forest Hill, Fort Worth, Haltom City, Haslet, Lakeside, Lake Worth, River Oaks, Saginaw, Sansom Park, Westover Hills, Westworth Village and White Settlement.

MedStar provides advanced life-support ambulance service to 421 square miles and more than 860,000 residents in Tarrant County.

Last year, MedStar responded to about 105,000 emergency and nonemergency calls and transported about 86,000 patients.

Accordingly, ambulance service MedStar is getting a big overhaul.

MedStar, which serves 15 Tarrant County cities, is converting its older Ford chassis to a heavier-duty Chevy chassis, according to Matt Zavadsky, MedStar associate director for operations.
