LOCATION: Private Dwelling w/window bar fortification near Northwest 7th Ave. cross 69th St. LIBERTY CITY, MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA

DEPARTMENTS: U.S. Marshal Task Force comprised of Miami-Dade Detectives, Miami-Dade Police Dept., Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue

DESCRIPTION: Four veteran Miami-Dade Detectives working as a U.S. Marshal's Office Task Force attempting to arrest murder suspect 23 yr old Johnny Simms, with another wanted fugitive on premises. Shots fired by Simms killed Detective Roger Castillo, a 21 year veteran of MDPD.

Detective Amanda Haworth, a 23 year veteran of MDPD, was shot by Simms and died on the operating table at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

A third Detective Oscar Pasencia shot the shooter, Johnny Simms dead.

A fourth Detective Diedra Beecher suffered a knee injury.

All Detectives were wearing full body armor and identification during this "high-risk felony arrest".

The second fugitive was taken into custody.

Detective Castillo of Davie, Fl, leaves behind a wife and three teenage sons.

Detective Haworth was a single mom who leaves behind a 13 year old son.

No funeral arrangements set at this time.
