Winter Saw Operation & Chainsaw Maintainence

I was reading an article about chainsaw operation in the wintertime in "Popular Mechanics" recently. It detailed steps to take to make chainsaw operation in the winter easier.

Does any department on here "winterize" their saws? And do you feel it is neccasary to gain peak performance?

Also, after a fire with moderate to heavy usage, what are the steps you take to inspect and clean the chainsaw or K-12?
