Health Education Solutions, the leading provider of continuing education solutions for first responders and healthcare professionals, recently released an infographic depicting the employment outlook for paramedics and EMTs by state through 2016, and average salaries by state for paramedics and EMTs.

Thank GOD they're only projections. 38k is only $18 an hour (based on a 40 hour work week). Now if that's for an EMT, that's pretty good for a lot of people outside of NYC. But for medics, that's awful.

Those don't appear to be salary projections at all.

The first graph is "Projected Job Growth", so that a projection of additional openings, in terms of workers, not salary. The second graph, concerning salaries was "AVERAGES", back in May of 2009. Averages would be what the salaries actually were, not what they might become.
