Does anyone know who is currently building the bodies for NYPD's RMP ESU units, and out of what type of metal?

I am not sure if they still are, but they used to be made at Odyssey Auto.

DeJana is building the current order. I believe steel but not sure.

Check out the Odyssey web site. Corrections had a unit built by Odyssey. Could this be the future of newer REP's?

I think NYPD ESU would want to ride around in something a little more nimble then what Correctins is using.

The new REP's will be the same body style/design... but will have MDT capabilities to display jobs, unlike the precinct RMP's which only have access to NYSPIN/DMV functions.

Wait, so NYPD is going with a medium duty chasis?

I saw a prototype of an NYPD ESU unit on a GMC-4500 chasis, which is no longer in production. I just remembered that.

The only reason I think a medium duty chasis would work is because of all the increased equipment (=weight) that they are carrying. However, the new Ford F-550 Super Duty chasis is very comprable to some of the Medium duty chasis on the market.

And does NYPD still remount the bodies?
