Earthquake Off Long Island Coast

[PEMO3 523]

A magnitude 3.9 quake was detected about 80 miles south-southeast of Southampton just before 10:45 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The epicenter was about 122 miles from New York City about 4.5 miles deep in the Atlantic Ocean.

I'm usually on top of these things as I teach Earth Science. In fact, I have a classroom seismograph. When I get in tomorrow, I'll check to see if anything was recorded. Although I'm not too optimistic because I don't remember seeing anything when I left school this afternoon.

ehhh, tis no big thing...we get 3-4 of those a week here in Southern California...holler when it's a 5.0 or bigger
