Amicone is correct. Yonkers is the second safest in the country....provided you are the Mayor and have YPD protection.

According to YPD between 1995 and 2007 154 people were MURDERED in Yonkers. In the past 3 years while crimes against property is down, violent crimes agains people is up.

During the same time frame there were 363 rapes and 5,414 assaults reported.

How do you "buy" this rating for your town? If they are number 1.....

Town of Colonie - Population 76,211 total crime reported 2,794

City of New Rochelle - Population 72,585 total crime reported 1,899

NR had a higher % of violent crime (18%)vs.(6%), but thats still based on a total that is 30% lower.

Colonie is only the safest because they fudge their numbers and reports. All of the violent crime somehow goes unreported.
