Errors in movies

6 posts in this topic

I was watching Ladder 49 at work, and I noticed a minor flaw in the film, and thought this is a good opportunity to start a thread on errors/quirks in films.

On Jack's very first call in the movie, (the flashback after falling through the floor) everyone is getting dressed before getting into the engine. The chauffer on the engine puts his coat on, and has no headgear on. When they show him driving the engine, he is wearing a baseball hat, and no coat. :-k :-k

I know there are things even more obvious in other films, I can never remember them though. Anybody know of some?

During the scene where the firefighter falls through the roof of the row house the lead character is wearing a Ladder 49 Helmet shield. At the time of this incident he was still assigned to Engine 33 and should have been displaying that shield.

When jack falls the several stories in the large building he looses his helmet. Later on he is shown wearing it. Did he have a spare or something?

I mentioned before that Travolta tells one of his line officers "10-4, All are hands operating." This well after he has assumed command at this general alarm. If you have 4 TL's in operation along with a few ladder pipes, you damn well have all hands operating. Seems like Hollyweird tries to get all the vernacular it can into the movie, no matter how you use it.

In "A Bronx Tale", they do a great job with accuracy and continuity, however, in one of the last scenes you have the FDNY extinguishing a car fire and you hear a Battalion Chief call the dispatcher. Throughout the scene they do a great job even including actual FDNY comms in the soundtrack. But at the end of the chief's transmission you hear a digital identifier as he unkeys. The story takes place in 1968!. Considering the FDNY's current radio issues I don't think they had them 20 years before they were invented.

Also in the movie "Frequency" in the opening scene with the gas tanker spilling product into the sewer an electrical cable is swinging above the water with gasoline pouring in all around. It doesn't ignite and explode until the arcing wire touches the water. Then the place goes up like Bikini Atol. :flamed:
