Austin, TX- Unique Second Alarm 10-30-10 (UPDATED)

Time: 0600hrs

Location: Northbound US-183 to Southbound MoPac flyover ramp

Departments: Austin FD, Austin PD, Austin-Travis County EMS, TXDOT

Description:Tractor trailer tanker truck took curve on flyover ramp too fast, and tipped over and caught fire. Fully involved upon arrival, driver and/or any possible occupants assumed deceased due to situation on arrival, remains found via coroner investigation. Water supply issues due to location. Multiple companies to help with water supply (3100 FOOT STRETCH) to cool the ramp from underneath. Fire allowed to burn due to unknown nature of tanker contents. 2 Alarm for hazmat and water. Estimated $500,000 in damages, mostly cosmetic.
