New Rochelle DPW faces fraud allegations

NEW ROCHELLE — The Westchester County District Attorney's Office is investigating the Department of Public Works over fraud allegations involving thousands of taxpayer dollars.

"This investigation has been going on for months and we're cooperating like we always do — although these kind of things aren't a regular occurrence," City Manager Charles Strome III said. "If something happens, we'll take appropriate action."

Strome said the district attorney is investigating activities in the city's maintenance garage. He declined to comment further, citing the investigation.
