The discussion of the NYPD Aviation Unit deploying its emergency skid-mounted flotation devices reminded me of another emergency safety feature slowly building it's way into many aircraft these days. Some light aircraft manufacturers have these as a standard on their aircraft.

Sad part is that the Cirrus track record of fatal accidents is higher then average, even with the parachutes. Awesome aircraft though.
