Time: Approx 1700-0100

Location: Kew Gardens, Forest Hills, College Point, Flushing, Bayside, Woodside.

Frequency: 154.400

Units Operating: Numerous Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Bronx Units

Weather Conditions: Severe Thunderstorms with Hurricane force winds, hail, and possible tornadic activity.

Description Of Incident: Multiple trees and wires down, along with manholes, MVA's Numerous Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn Units operating as second sections of Queens companies responding to various alarms. At least two confirmed partial collapses of buildings, 2 All hands fires, one fatal MVA on the Grand Central Parkway. The writer alone spotted a number of tractor trailers overturned on the Van Wyck Expressway in the vicinity of Jewel Avenue. Over 2,000 calls processed by FDNY Fire Alarm Dispatchers within the ten hour period from 1700-0300, for Queens alone.
