The maroon was purchased as part of the 100 aniversary of the 1906 Great Fire (as that was the cover of the rigs then). They claimed they would go back to red after that series.

Not as nice looking as the ALFs but not bad... They will certainly get the job done.

San Francisco ran Spartan before the ALFs. It has been posted on West the department wasn't really happy with the ALFs, due to being underpowered and the uncertainity of the company...

For being a fire department with a very steep and hilly terrain response area, they should have spec'd out the rigs better when it came to the engine and transmission. If the spec's were done right on the power train, then they shouldn't have had any problem, unless they got sold a bill of goods so to speak from the company.

I hope they have better luck with this batch of new rigs!
