Portable radios and hand tools stolen from R-1 at the fire scene. A fire hydrant was also reported 'missing':

They're valuable as scrap metal. In NYC just about any time one gets knocked over by a car, its gone by sunset. I'm willing to bet thats what happened here.

They are also prized collectables. I know of 3 NYC hydrants that have been installed in residential back yards in New Rochelle (& no I do not have one). One was even plumbed to supply a garden hose.
