Should American LaFrance Put These Up For Auction?

First off, I didn't even know American LaFrance made armored vehicles.

Second, should they be offered to the general public? What's the chance that some sort of militia or disgruntled individual got a hold of one?

Seth, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be sold to the public. Collecting ex-military vehicles is a long-established hobby. Fancy an armoured scout car?

I myself have a vehicle based on an ex-army truck. Some people even collect tanks! Obviously with the weapons removed or rendered inoperable...!

No big deal at all. If anyone, militia or otherwise, wants one - they can just go to a dealer or show and buy one. Or check the small ads:

Pretty nice looking APC's, I had no clue ALF made these. I figured these would be older and not used anymore by the military but 2006-2009? Very new.. Does seem wierd, kinda like their making them for civilians to be able to purchase. Deffinatly would be perfect for a collecter who would want to have a past and present display of APC's.

That is the most amazing yard sale ever!!! I want all of that stuff, especially the mills and lathes. Back to the topic... guns are available to the public. Maybe someone will use this to protect themselves while driving around Detroit, haha.

Too bad dodge pick up trucks with the cummins cant come with an alison tranny from the factory. that would be a big plus for them, their auto's are not great. Ill stick with my handshaker tranny anyday though

Correct me if I am wrong, but the APCs were probably produced in response to desperate calls from the US Military. The Humvees were getting pummeled by IEDs. We needed vehicles that would survive the blasts, and we needed them fast. A number of heavy equipment manufactures that never made any military hardware started producing APCs

There is a legitimate use for APC's in the civilian sector, but not everyone needs one.
