Moving to Putnam

Well good luck grumpy, Im sure Patterson Fd will be glad to have you, especially for EMS during the day. Guess I will get to meet you one day since I work out of that station.

As far as Schools Carmel are fairly good. If you have any kids the grammer school will be Matthew Patterson, the middle school will be George Fischer, and the High School will be Carmel.

As far as shopping and stuff, you will pretty much find everything between the center on 311 and 22, and just North on 22 there is a lot of stuff just over the line in dutchess. Plus A&P and Mobil are open 24hrs....

Good Luck again and refresh on your DRAFTING/TANKER skills..lol

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU. PUTNAM VALLEY IS VERY NICE. THERE SCHOOL'S ARE TOP NOTCH PLUS THE H.S. AND M.S. ARE BRAND NEW BUILDINGS WITH A GREAT FOOTBALL FIELD AND TRACK. KENT'S ALSO GREAT AND BOTH HAVE GREAT FIRE DEPARTMENTS. YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO LOOK AT PHILIPSTOWN. THE AREAS OF CONTINENTAL VILLAGE AND NORTH HIGHLANDS ARE NOT BAD. AND THE PRICES ARE ABOUT AVERAGE FOR PUTNAM COUNTY.

To the right of the monument (Fairfield Drive) just past the deli/gas station exists a very strange line. Some of

Brewster’s finest home sites and lots back up (via Milltown road) including Indian Wells on Gage, Sherwood Hill, Equestrian, Rose Lane, Elizabeth Court, etc. All the water/wells and septic areas are fine. Much of the area consists of homes built back in the late 1930s as year round residences, not converted summer homes, and in the last several years many in the + $700,000 range have been built. Many have more then ½ acre level properties, not at all on top of one another.

Just ahead the Brewster/Putnam Lake area that borders Ball Pond and the New Fairfield town line provide a choice of New Fairfield schools or Brewster schools. Very grey-area tax map here with lots of diverse situations, so if you’re a cop who must reside in New York, you need to really check into each home.

Now to the left of the Monument is indeed Putnam Lake, and yes, may converted summer homes, but on some streets there IS property. Also past the Catholic Church at the end on the right is a fairly new development of split-level ranch type homes with nice lots.

If one looks (and/or has a great realtor) several situations can be had from the $300,000 range thru just over $1,000,000. Happy hunting!

I lived in Putnam Lake, then moved over to New Fairfield, the schools are better for my kids, other things I found better for me and my family. In CT you pay for garbage, personal property tax, New Fairfield law pump out septic every two years. also New Fairfield a lot of private communities (Which also tax you)
