For those that have experienced a Collyer's Mansion, this new "reality show" will probably bring back bad memories. For those that have not yet been in one of these fire traps, it's worth your time to check out this site and maybe the "show" on tv.

have watched an episode or 2...cannot belive the living condtions that those people live in...some major firetraps and fire loads in some of those houses.

I was in one for a "smoke in structure" call. I could not believe the amount of fire load. About 2 years later got a call of that residence struck by lightning, I checked my on scene from call out time, and it was just under two minutes. The house was totally and I mean totally engulfed. Wasn't enough water in the Atlantic to stop it. It eventually went out.

Ossining recently had a structure fire at 3 Butler Pl. I was their with PVAC Rehab. I took some pictures with my phone and posted them on this site. That house was pretty close to a Collyer's Mansion as you can somewhat see in one or two of the pictures. Back to the show...it is amazing to see how these people live and how the disease has ruined their lives. I remember one episode where they found a cat while cleaning out the house. The cat was flat as a magazine and the owner said she had not seen it in like 15+ years!
