Pa. man dies during storm when 911 calls unheeded

Reading this story makes me sick. Any other opinions? Could/ has an event like this happened around here?

In NYC an abdominal pain job is fairly low priority so during times of increased demand they will often get held or assigned units will get pulled for higher priority jobs. Even in the busiest times an abdominal pain rarely goes more than 20 minutes before a bus gets on scene. If the snow is too deep or a bus gets stuck, sanitation sends the nearest plow to clear the road or free the bus. In Pleasantville and Mt Pleasant DPW is also a phone call away to get help clearing a street. That Pittsburgh would accept "the snow is too deep" as an excuse to not get a bus on scene is sad. All that being said, poo happens. NYC has certainly had their well publicized snafus. Sadly in any system things happen, its not acceptable, and you do everything in your power to prevent it.

What I find disturbing is the breakdown in communication among dispatch teams and the responders. A question for the dispatchers out there, What is the procedure,if any, for keeping track of an incident with multiple calls for help?

Sounds like a clear review of the shortcomings needs to be performed.
