After they get delivered to the Village, and the members are trained on the rigs. E99 is due to be delivered to the Village sometime in November.

The picture I see shows two seperate outriggers on each side of the apparatus. How is that better than just one? My concern is that you need 2 separate openings between cars to place the outriggers. I'm not familiar with E-One towers do the outriggers have to be out on both sides or is there a shortjacking option?

While a single set of outboard stabilizers makes set up easier, when it comes to the actual jacks, E-One's come out the least and at an angle. They call them "underslung jacks", and the overall jack stance is generally far less than other similar size aerials, reducing the overall footprint. Also given their design you can slide them very close to a vehicle or other obstacle, where the radial arm style typical of Aerialscope may come into contact with the obstacle. The standard out and downs, also could contact the same obstacle if it was angle up and toward the apparatus. This is one of the reasons Boston FD has had such a love affair with E-One aerials. We bought a MM tower a few years ago (2006) and really looked hard at E-One. Had it not been for some other design features we couldn't get changed to suit our needs, we would have probably bought one. It's hard to argue with their record on zero aerial failures and the smallest footprint jack system in the industry.

I would think if you have 2 ladder companies, the best option for your "tool box of weapons" would be to have 1 tower and 1 straight stick. Most Depts with 2 ladders have 1 of each, not all but most. I know Ossining has always had 2 sticks going way back to the Maxims I think, but with all the taxpayers, and older buildingsthey have a tower ladder would fit their needs.

On Fri. 10/8/10 while Mohegan was inspecting our Rescue-Engine, noticed Ossining's production line number is 7950 and Mohegan is 7951...both trucks built back to back on assembly line!

It will be interesting to see it with the other rigs, the paint job looks great - but it looks BIG!!!

The rig was delivered to Ruscon this Friday for final prep. I have not heard when it will be delivered to OFD yet.

From my understanding, no it will not. The rumor that I heard is that the TL will be stationed at OFD HQ with R14 & L41 until the issue of a new Firehouse or addition to the current Snowden Avenue Firehouse is resolved.

The Ossining Fire Department took delivery of a new KME Predator 1500GPM/500Gallon Tank Engine for Monitor Hose Co. #4, Engine 99 tonight at 1930 hours.

The Company received some preliminary training tonight from a KME representative from Ruscon. More training will be this weekend, and the Company is looking forward to putting the new Engine in service next Wednesday October 27, 2010.
