Website help!

Any idea how I can post photos and images on my website so they will appear / upload quicker? I am researching this, but thought someone here may have some insight.

Thanks!

It looks like a lot of your photos are at a very high resolution. That is excellent for printing and viewing individual photos but not so great for pages with a lot of photos.

For a webpage containing many at once, use thumbnails. That is, make lower resolution copies of each of your images so when the page loads it doesn't have to load multiple large files all at once. You still should include the higher resolution images but they should be linked from each tumbnail.

If you keep smaller image sizes for your pages containing multiple pictures the loading time will be greatly decreased.

edit: By the way, besides for the sluggish image loading your site looks great. :D

Install the Gallery photo system.

Works great and it quick so that you can update it alot.

In addition to the Gallery, a decent photo format is JPEG. A compressed web formatted(around 5%) JPEG photo will load quicker. Also, make sure your photo size is reasonable, and the file size as well.

Invest in some decent photo editing software to do the above..

PM me for further...

Site keeps getting better. Got to see some E119/T10 together shots when they both are back.

Yea the image gallery is nice. Make sure you are saving them for the web. This shrinks down the size for faster loading.

Also Why do you charge for pics of the trucks? Are you giving some of the proceeds to the Depts? nycfire.net/gallery

Gotta pay for the website somehow.

I agree with the Gallery kudos. Great system, PHP based so it's easy to port and work with/modify. Can't wait for Gallery 2 to come out.
