Infection Control Program.

Being the Health and Safety Officer (HSO) for my department, I want to know who here has an Infection Control Program as Specified in NFPA 1581. What is in your Infection Control Program and does your department have a infection control Officer. What is the best way to start one in a Department?

We have an Infection Control Program. The program includes a full Infection Control Policy, annual refresher training and a designated infection Control Officer. Policies cover pre-employment screening, exposure procedures, handling of infectious waste, soiled and/or contaminated laundry, and proper disposal of red or yellow bagged materials. It further details who reports what to whom. What measures are specified for given hazards and how often the program is reviewed and refreshed on.
