911 calls go astray after faulty routing in Goshen

Goshen — Officers at the town police department had an unusually uneventful Wednesday, a fact attributed to a faulty routing of calls from the 911 dispatch center in Goshen. Officials from the department said that calls to their department were being routed to Goshen Collision, an auto repair shop, which later reported receiving a good number of calls meant for police. The 911 center fixed the problems fairly quickly.

This has to be one of the worst written articles I've ever seen.

"Officials from the department said calls to that department were being rerouted..." Officials from which department, Town of Goshen Police or Orange 911?

However, it does not sound like actual 911 calls got rerouted. When Town of Goshen Police has no one in the station, calls on the seven digit number ring down into the 911 center. It sounds like those were the calls that were getting rerouted.

Many residents call the 7 digit rather than 911 for emergencies. These were potentially emergencies getting rerouted to an auto body shop.
