Probably a normal day in NYC .....

5 posts in this topic

I'm not a FDNY buff at all - so may not be unusual at all, but saw a MERV Major Emergency Response Vehicle responding. Basically a full size tour bus type vehicle with very few windows. Couldn't dig my phone out in time to snap a picture.

It is an everyday event in NYC, especially when it has been as cold as it has been for the last several days.

MERV3 in Midtown is a little unlikely, however any multi alarm fire or in severe weather any fire you will see a MERV assigned.

merv 3 responded to the suspicious van because merv 1 was already assigned to a 10-75 on 34th street at the abandoned regency hotel. Once MERV 1 was cleared from the 10-75 it went and took the place of merv 3 and sent it back to brooklyn. Typicaly the MERV isnt assigned unless the fire is 2nd alarm or higher, or if it is specificaly requested by the medical branch director on scene of an MCI. However when the weather is very cold or otherwise potentialy hazerdous it will get assigned to every MCI type regardles of alarm level.
