Dumpster Blast Claims Wis. FF

Crews were called to the scene of a Dumpster fire at Bremer Manufacturing in St. Anna at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

ST. ANNA, Wis. - An explosion in a Dumpster claimed the life of a Saint Anna Fire Department firefighter and injured six others Tuesday night, according to a local television station, fox11online.com.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at Bremer Manufacturing after a police officer spotted the fire at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the television station. While crews were putting out the fire, something in the Dumpster exploded. What caused the blast was not immediately known last night, according to the news report.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, State Marshals and the Calumet Co. Sheriff's department are investigating, the station reported.

One firefighter was airlifted to the Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah where he is listed in critical condition. The remaining five were taken to the hospital in Chilton with reportedly non-life threatening injuries, the station reported.
