Uniden Bearcat BCD996XT

4 posts in this topic

I just recently purchase the "new" Uniden Bearcat BCD996XT and I am quite pleased with it. For those of you that do not know what it is, here is a link: http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/BCD996XT#Features I highly recommend it, especially for the trunking capabilities. For those of you that have this, was wondering what your thoughts were. Does anyone like the tone-out mode feature? Even though I'm pretty computer competent, this was the hardest scanner to figure out.

I got my BCD996T couple of years ago, and I love it. I also got a BC246T portable.

I would have been literally lost without the ARC software from BuTel, and a subscription to Radio Reference to use their Web Service for the ARC software to access system frequencies and trunk ID database, that really helped.

After getting through all that, the manual programming instructions made a little more sense, but it is definitely not for those with a short attention span!

I saw that the scanner has a tone-out mode but that kind of defeats the purpose of having a scanner in my opinion: It can't scan while in FTO.

Enjoy your new scanner!

I Have the 996T and the 396T and I love them (despite my "accident" to the 396). I was thinking on getting the 996XT for the home soon. I would like to hear more about it.
