As part of my professional (PPE), I had the priviledge of visiting the City of Orlando Vehicle Maintenence Facility, and I will tell you that I have never seen a more Professional and Spotless Facility in the United States. You could literally "Cook your Dinner" off of the facility floors. Everything is in its place. Their Vehcile Maintenence Schedules are "Incredible". No matter if it is a Police Cruiser or Emergency Truck, a Fire Engine, Ladder Company, or Special Operations/Rescue Vehicle Unit, and Ambulance or a Refuse Collection/Street Sweeper Unit, they "routinely" have them in for Preventative Mainenence. The personnel that run this facility know more about the vechiles that they work on than the Manufacturers who build them. They are "VERY PARTICULAR" about the Manufacturer of the Vehicles that they have in their fleet (As you can see from the Photos of their Fire Department Fleet above), and they will not be shy about saying why they have chosen, are extremely loyal to, and "Stand Behnd" their Manufacturer of choice.

If anyone from the EMTBravo community happens to be visiting Orlando (Disney World, etc) and have a few minutes to get away from the kids, make it a point to arrange to visit this facility and see what it is all about. It is "State of the Art" and maybe you might be able to bring back some ideas to your local departments.

We'll try Action-8 again. The Logos identify the station. All apparatus in the station have the same logo.

Although they operate as a seperate entity the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority is part of Orlando. The city annexed the Former McCoy Air Force Base and operates Orlando International Airport(MCO)and The Orlando Executive Airport (itself a former naval training field). GOAA has the Orlando Police operate as their law enforcement section. The Fire Department is all GOAA and does not answer to OFD. They have recently started switching apparatus to black roofs like the city...while it may look good on red apparatus it's ugly with slime green by the way.

The only way to tell a GOAA assigned OPD car, apart from the fact that it's at the airport,is the bar code decal in front of the drivers door. Also providing law enforcement services at the airport US Department of Homeland Security: TSA Transportation Security Agency, ICE Immigration and Customs Enforcement, CBP Customs & Border Protection Field Operations, USBP CBP Border Patrol.
