Stamford man charged with arson, attempted murder

STAMFORD -- Police arrested a Stamford man Thursday and charged him with trying to torch a multi-family home with 12 people inside.

Horacio Lopez, 24, of 47 Virgil St., was charged with first-degree arson and criminal attempt at murder, said Capt. Richard Conklin, head of the Stamford police detective bureau.

Conklin said Lopez and a resident had an argument Tuesday morning and then Lopez left and got a can of gas. He returned and splashed the gas in different locations around the 67 Grove St. residence and then started a fire at almost 6 a.m., Conklin said. ...
