Reading about this "incident", a sign we've all seen along the roadways comes to mind;

"GIVE 'EM A BREAK,

LET 'EM WORK"

At least writing tickets generates revenue for my town!

Writing tickets is a revenue generator for your town???? I thought the reason tickets were issued was because someone didn't comply with the law. Just as the WPFD would issue a summons and posiblely shut down a bar for non-compliance. This too could "generate revenue" for White Plains, If that was the basis for the inspections. The basis is to prevent anymore Gulliver's or The Station Night Club (2003) in West Warwick Rhode Island from happening again. This would also have a positive effect on White Plain's bottom line. The money they would save from not being brought into wrongful death lawsuits.

I really have a problem with discussions like this. Already this is turning into a whole lot of group think and i don't think anyone has hit the central issue.

Anyone who is employed or volunteers in the public safety sector should know to conduct him/herself as if someone were taking pictures and/or video taping their actions. These two guys made a bonehead move to get a bit too involved with the late night atmosphere and got caught - clearly a lapse in professionalism. Now, this lapse may been momentary, but however momentary it is a lapse.

While i agree their actions were harmless and not ill-intentioned, someone needs to reminds them that someone is always watching.

Hopefully this all blows over for them quickly and without any further complication.

I hope your kidding . and if you are serious im glad I dont work with or for you

They are out doing code enforcement because they need to justify having a job. Lets face it, WPFD isn't doing runs around the clock like some other jobs are!! I know both of these FF's. I think it is pretty funny but other don't. People want to see their tax money going to something else other than FF's getting hugs and kisses from some pretty woman in lingerie!!

That is the one of the most ridulous statements I've heard in a long time. Are you going on calls around the clock? How many arrests do you make per shift? How many field citations do you issue? Is most of your work traffic related and burgalar alarms? When was your last foot pursuit? Does being on the dive team help justify your primary job? You've admitted that your department issues tickets mainly to generate revenue, not in the interest of public safety. Do you not do proactive patroling because it's "a waste of taxpayers money"??

I guess you also feel fire prevention and education is a waste of money too? Maybe it's because of strict code enforcement that there aren't a lot of fatal fires. They could be sleeping like most other career departments, but the city would rather have the FD do fire code checks at 2AM since they are already on the clock instead of hiring Code Inspectors to do it.

Geezz try working being a firefighter at a casino!!!! We get requests all the time for pictures from people who head to the clubs at night located there see us when we are in our uniforms or gear and its like flies to a lightbulb. Sometimes we are receptive most other times we are not due to what is going on at the facility. The problem mostly is that people don't realize both casinos in CT have there own fire departments.

Some of you think they weren't posing? One of them was getting a kiss on the cheek while covering the patch on his chest while looking into the camera! Doesn't look as if they were trying to move away! These guys could have very easily said no to a kiss, hug, or a picture. They are supposed to be PROFESSIONAL!

Pretty convientent for them to do an occupancy check during a LINGERIE PARTY!!

I can tell you this, if I WAS WORKING AND A PICTURE WAS TAKEN OF ME GETTING A KISS AT A BAR I would most definitley be suspended. I don't want to see that happen, but now that the MEDIA has a hold of this you can guarantee they are gonna keep this all over the place!

Give Them a break; I don't really care why his hand was there, it doesn't really matter. I worked at Foxwoods Casino as an EMT (not firefighter) for over three years and getting grabbed and kissed is mild compared to some of what happened or was suggested could happen while I was on duty. Those of you that suggested that they could say no, obviously have no clue how negatively that kind of response can be percieved and all the offended party will remember is the party-pooper they dealt with last night. Saying no sometimes just makes a situation that could be over in seconds drag on for minutes because some lady drunk doesn't want to take no for an answer. This is a simple no news situation getting all blown out of proportion by people who just don't have a clue about what can sometimes happen when you mix firefighters and drunk women. The compliance checks are probably a good idea and having the young guys do them is probably not all that terrible for them or the women!

Goose, Oneeye, you guys are all wet!

Hey Chief! I'll volunteer for that detail!! :)

Everyone needs to RELAX!! No I don't go on calls round the clock, but I bet I go on more calls than WPFD does! Seth I said that me writing tickets generates revenue for my town. I don't know how a Dept can issue a ticket. They aren't human!

I understand about the bars and clubs in WP and how they need to be monitored for over crowding. I commend the FD for doing this. But, when pictures like this come out in the paper, it makes things not seem on the up and up. Do you really think that most of the public knows that the FD does checks in the middle of the night? Of course not!

When somebody gets pulled over they may get a ticket right? In getting that ticket they may have to pay a fine right? Hence, making a municipality MONEY! REVENUE!! If Police Dept didn't write any tickets I bet there wouldn't be that many Police Dept around.

Comm Veh details, STOP DWI DETAILS, CLICK IT OR TICK IT DETAILS, CELL PHONE DETAILS are all to stop people not complying with the law but they are also there because they do shockinly enough GENERATE REVENUE!!

I am sorry they got caught on camera and I am sorry they put this in the media. It is what it is!!

Mark Z thanks for telling me that I am all wet!! Prob means I am diving somewhere on OT!!

. . . .Mark Z thanks for telling me that I am all wet!! Prob means I am diving somewhere on OT!!

I took quite a bit of time to choose the word I did, I wanted to let you know that I felt you and Goose were wrong IMO and didn't want to use a more negative word simply because I didn't want to start a war of words! If you are out diving in this weather have fun! Stay Safe as well!!

I think this is a good point for me to end my involvment in this discussion. The point I was trying to make is no matter what the motive of the city, the firefighters in the City Of White Plains are doing as assigned by the higher ups and being proactive in preventing potential loss of lives in bars and nightclubs that have occured nationwide due to lack of code enforcement. Kudos to WPFD, and I hope the JN does an article highlighting that fact.

As far as police issuing tickets and why, that issue is completly irrelevant.
