My memories of those early years in the department and the friendships that still are part of my life have been brought to life by the beautiful replica of the first FDNY apparatus that took me to my first fire. now those were nice Macks.... my first fire truck ( driving ) was the 1962 Mack Croton had.... standard transmission with a gas engine.... that baby could handle.... the sound of the clutch peddle hitting the steel diamond plate floor was great
