Initial Summary:    Firefighter Pierce, who had served as Chief and was an active member in both Ogdensburg and Hardystown Township Fire Departments, was working a handline at a residential structure fire when he became ill (possible heart attack, autopsy pending). Pierce returned to the apparatus outside where he told the pump operator that he required medical attention. He was provided immediate assistance by on scene medics, but those efforts were unable to revive him.
