Car crashes near Hawks Nest, occupants jump off cliff

A car crashed near the Hawk's nest on Route 97 early Wednesday morning, and the two occupants fled the scene and jumped 100 feet off a cliff next to the Delaware River.

Troopers observed around 1:30 a.m., that a 2001 Kia Spectra rolled over on its side on the shoulder of Route 97 by Wilson Road.

The driver, XXXXXX, 25, of Port Jervis and his passenger, XXXXXXX, 30, of Port Jervis, had fled. They had jumped over the cliff adjacent to the Delaware River about a quarter mile south of the scene and were hanging onto a tree....
