City of Poughkeepsie police have closed Hudson Avenue after responding to an unknown incident.

City of Poughkeepsie police are investigating a shooting and have closed Hudson Avenue.

Fifth Ward Councilwoman Penny Lewis said she was told by police there was a shooting and the body of the victim remains in a car that hit a tree on Hudson Avenue.

Lewis said she asked police to cover up the car so nearby children would not see the corpse. A forensic van was moved to block the view of the car.

Police have released no information, but forensic personnel are at the scene, collecting evidence and taking photos. The front window appears to have bullet holes on the driver's side.

Amid the investigation, police had to break up a fight down the street.

A crowd has gathered on the street.
