6 posts in this topic

It is with deep regret that I pass along the announcement that Danbury, CT Police Officer Robert DiNardo, Shield Number 413 passed away late last night as a result of a brief illness. Officer DiNardo served 29 years with the Danbury Police Department, 20 of which with the School Resource Officer program at Broadview Middle School and has received numerous awards and commendations from the Department and Community. P.O. DiNardo has been a mentor to thousands of teens in Danbury during his career and greatly enjoyed working with children. Though not an Advisor, he was a great supporter of the Danbury Police Explorers and often acted as referee for our annual basketball game against the New York Giants.

Per the orders of the Deputy Chief of Police, the flag at Headquarters will be lowered from first light on Friday, June 26 until the day after his funeral. All department personnel are to wear a mourning band over their shield for 15 days.

Service and funeral information are still pending.

Rest in Peace Officer DiNardo, you will be missed

-Explorer Major Alex Cardella, Shield Number 907

Thoughts and Prayers to the family and friends of Officer Di Nardo, and to the Emergency Services Community in Danbury.

Take comfort in knowing that he is at Peace and in a better place, now. May God grant you the strength to get through this difficult time.

Thanks Doc, a lot of the cops and many of the Explorers are shaken up about this. He touched many of their lives through his work.

Update: On Tuesday during the funeral, the Connecticut State Police will be called in to handle the city's calls while the Department buries its Brother Officer. The Danbury Police Explorers will provide a "rolling roadblock" with our Bike Patrol during the procession and the remainder of the Post will be assigned to administrative duties within Headquarters or participating in the ceremony.
