IZZY, that 62 Seagrave in Norwich was replaced by a 79 (?) ALF Tiller that ran out of the old hqs on Chestnut St. The 62 Seagrave Tiller was a Reserve at that time as Ladder 2, before getting the rearmount from Taftville.

Also, I believe in Connecticut, Meriden ran an ALF Tiller years back. Stamford had a classic Tiller as Ladder 1. It had a Mack "R" Model Tractor.

I think there is a member of this site who is a retired Hartford Firefighter. Years ago he published a book called "Tillers of Connecticut". He goes by the name "Alarmroom". I think.

That's right I forgot about the ALF tiller, it was identical to New London's. Meriden did years ago, long before I could remember and I don;t remember Stamford's either unfortunately. I bet it was a rebuild of an older trailer with the "R" tractor.

And Alarmroom is here, good old Keith!!!!

Chelsea Hook & Ladder in Nyack has one

Actually, both Chelsea H&L #2 and Empire H&L #1 have tillered rigs. In addition, in Rockland County, Haverstraw's Rescue H&L #1 and Suffern H&L also have tillers.

The Stamford tiller was a MID 60's 100 ft Maxim F cab replaced by a R model Mack about the ten year mark then the cab had a open crew cab added to it which put the members face to face with the turn table.

Forgot about that.....quite possibly the ONLY tiller using the Seagrave Concorde chassis. The one that it replaced was sold to, I believe, Irvington. While in that neck of the woods, might as well acknowledge the handful of Pierce tillers operated by North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue.

A little bit out of the area, but in the Metro Boston area, the following run TDA's:

Revere 1 2004 Pierce and 1 2009 Pierce

Melrose 1 2007 Seagrave

Somerville 1 2007 Seagrave

Waltham 1 2008 Seagrave

Irvington did in fact purchase Somerville's old Seagrave TDA. Used the tiller compartment off an old Union City (now North Hudson) TDA to enclose the tiller seat once they bought it.

Well, Guess that about covers it for the Ct., and part of Mass Area. Not much more we can add to that. (Alarmroom, I think I still have all the Alarm Room Newsletters from when those cities were really burning and some of those cities had just put those tillers in service. The years just flew by). Yes, that"s the guy I was talking about.
