Milford P.D. car involved in Fatal MVA

A Milford, Ct police car was involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident when returning from a mutual aid call to the City of West Haven, Ct for a large disturbance. The accident took place about 3 AM in Orange, Ct. It is reported that two civilians were killed when they apparently pulled out in front of the Milford Police Car. The police officer was treated for his injuries. Connecticut State Police are investigating.

The accident occurred on Route 1 (Boston Post Road) at the Orange / West Haven town line in front of the Target / Best Buy plaza. The Milford police officer was returning to the City of Milford from a mutual aid request from West Haven Police Department/ The officer was heading westbound on Route 1 when the other vehicle, heading east towards West Haven, crossed in its path making a left hand turn. One occupant was pronounced on scene while the other was pronounced at teh hospital, both the male and female were 19.

Sadly, The Connecticut State Police investigation states that the Milford Police officer was speeding while returning from the call.

Unfortunately it is possible becasue at that part of the evening, all the stop lights on the Route 1 side direction of travel flash yellow for a good number of intersections. I travel and know that area very well and it is easily to speed through there. Just a very sad situation for everyone involved.
