Location: Melendrez fires east of Green Valley in the Santa Rita Mountains. Just outside Phoenix, AZ

Description: Lightning started a few large wildfires - the largest of which is now over 1400 acres and only 15% contained. 3 hot-shot crews, two helicopters, and numerous ground crews/engines are working to protect residential and grazing areas. Crews are lighting back fires to protect the perimeter and allow old brush within the fire area to be consumed. The Melendrez Pass Fire increased from 3 acres on Friday to 30 to 50 acres Saturday and 1425 on Sunday.

One of the other fires is 30 acres and about 80% contained.
